Characters

The characters include the hero/vigilante, executioner, criminal, news reporters and a victim of the crime. The clothing chosen for these characters (mise-en-scene) would be used to give hints of what they were like and the character they would be. However, we decided to make the main character as a counter type so when people were watching it they would be expecting him to commit a crime due to his clothing and the way he acts rather than being the hero of the movie.

The characters are as follows:

Hero/Vigilante: Hooded teenager saving people, 17/18 age, tall Counter Type (Stereotype would be for him to commit the crime not stop it)
Executioner: Black Mask, suit (intimidating)
Criminal: Tracksuit / Roadman Stereotypical teenager, knife
News reporters: smart/suited

Person being Robbed: high end clothing, showing wealth making target for being robbed

Moodboard

After looking at trailers we started looking at different movie posters and getting ideas of what the theme of our one could be and how we could make it interesting and different in order to gain interest from a variety of different groups. Our mood board displayed images of Flashpoint (Hong Kong), Batman (America), The Raid (Indonesia). All the movies displayed are based around a crime and thriller and are all from different regions which gave a wider aspect of the genre and how different regions presented it. This helped us as we were able to us some of the different ideas by taking ideas from the movies to help make our project seem more original and stand out.

Planning our main project

To start planning our main project (opening scene) we watched a few movie openings such as Seven, Juno and Lord of war which provided us with a variety of different styles. Whilst watching we saw all the different camera angles and movements, the editing, the credits and all the production companies involved. By watching these we were able to use them for inspiration  towards our own.

Preliminary Exercise

Our preliminary exercise was a quick trial of being able to film and edit before we started our actual assignment. It was around a minutes long and was a basic conversation between two people.  It would need to show that we could follow the 180 degree rule and do basic shots and editing skills such as shot/reverse shot and match on action. Due to it being a basic trial, it will show errors and the filming will not be as good as the final project.
